Never Ignore Those In Need
Going by the saying of Edmund Burke “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” I will like to relate it to poverty and say “The only thing necessary for the triumph of poverty is for those who have to ignore those who don’t.”
Proverbs 28:27 (GNT) says “Give to the poor and you will never be in need. If you close your eyes to the poor, many people will curse you.”
This verse makes it clear that we should always give to the poor and by poor, I believe it means all those in need; be it emotional need, spiritual need or financial need. It makes us understand that if we ignore those in need, then we are in danger of being cursed by people.
The saying “Give a man a fish and you will feed him for a day, teach him how to fish and you will feed him for a life time” is true but what is more true is that if you can’t teach a man how to fish, then it is good to give him a fish and feed him for a day as that might just be the last day he has got to hang on before someone comes around to teach him how to fish.
PRAYER: Father, I thank you for blessing me and for making me a blessing unto others.
