Kid Christian?

More often than not, I do hear people ask this question ‘why are the number of churches increasing while the crime rate, violence and war are also increasing?

Questions like these can leave even the smartest of Christians in a state of confusion and throw him in a defensive position just to prove and justify that the rate of increase in population is not proportionate to the rate of increase in churches, thereby causing a reduction in the percentage of people that go to church when compared with the population size.

Though this might be somewhat true but more true is the fact that most Christians are babies in the spirit who are still being spoon fed by their Pastors/ ‘Spiritual Father’ or ‘Daddy in the Lord’, while some people go to church as part of a Sunday routine, a kind of a Sunday-Sunday show.

Some Christians are so lazy they never bother to open their bible and read for themselves what is written in there. They do not even bother to check their bible to confirm if what they are being taught is the truth and in line with the situation it is being used for.

This gives room for Christians to be deceived by the so called ‘Prosperity teachings‘ which Christ in all his teachings of the gospel never made his main message but instead took peoples attention away from worldly wealth by statements such as the one he told ‘The rich young man’ in Mathew 19:16-24 that asked him what he needed to do in other to enter the kingdom of God and after answering him, “Jesus then said to his disciples, “I assure you: it will be very hard for rich people to enter the Kingdom of heaven. I repeat: it is much harder for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God than for a camel to go through the eye of a needle.” (Mathew 19:23-24)

Since Pastors know this, why do they then concentrate their preaching/ teachings on growing worldly wealth rather than concentrating on spiritual growth and teaching people how to live a righteous and Godly life that is not centered around earthly wealth?

Some make statements like, ‘without money, nothing can be done and even the work of the Lord won’t be able to move forward‘.

In as much as our human understanding and world standard wants to believe this as the truth, Christ have proved us wrong long ago when he sent his disciples out to go preach the good news and instructed them not to go with their purse nor a change of cloth (Mathew 10:7-10), yet all their needs were met. (Luke 22:35)

You might say times were different but are you also by that saying the God that existed then is different from the God existing now?

The bible says that until we rise up to the full standard of Christ which is Love; selflessness, happiness and people oriented kind of lifestyle, we will still be like kids and immature.

“Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of ChristThis will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ. Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth. Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love. ~ Ephesians 4:11-16 (NLT)

Do not stand deceived, the bible is our manual as Christians which we must go through and live by.

Do not treat Christianity as a product, an activity or an identification. Christianity is much more than a tag or a specific behavior at a particular place at a stated time.

Christianity is a lifestyle. It is the lifestyle of Christ and being a Christian means living a Christ-like kind of life and not your Pastor nor spiritual father kind of life.

Remember, ignorance is not an excuse. You have all it takes to know the truth.

Pick up your bible, read and learn from it, so that you will not be like the student who went to school, did not study nor read his textbooks and only listened to what the teacher says in class. When exam comes, what do you think will be the faith of such student?
