The Exchange

“Leave your troubles with the Lord, and he will defend you; he never lets honest people be defeated.” ~ Psalm 55:22 (GNT)

There are times when we are overwhelmed by our troubles and disappointments that instead of calling on God and leaving all our troubles with him, all we do is cry and call on family or friends who we believe can make us feel comfortable in our troubles.

This is not Gods plan for us. It was not Gods design that we feel comfortable with our troubles. Some even go ahead to personalize the troubles they face, they use words like ‘my headache’, ‘my sickness’, ‘my heartbreak’, ‘my disappointments’, ‘my temptations’, etc

That which you refer to as your heartbreak or your disappointments might be Gods way of letting go of that which you do not deserve in order to prepare you for that which is your worth. It might be a way of saving you from a greater trouble or even destruction.

Christ gave his life for you and me, he made that great exchange for us when he died on the cross and I believe that his words “It is finished” means all the troubles brought on men by the act of Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden has ended. All the punishment in Genesis 3:16-19 and all other associated punishments as a result of disobedient and sin nature of man has ended for all those who believe in him.

The death of Christ is the great exchange. He laid down his life so that we might live and enjoy the blessings of God.

2 Corinthians 8:9 (GNT) says

“You know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ; rich as he was, he made himself poor for your sake, in order to make you rich by means of his poverty.”

Psalm 55:22 also states that God never lets honest people be defeated and that we should leave our troubles with him and he will defend us.

Do not let the death of Christ be in vain, rather let it find meaning and expression in your life.
